The end of the road!

Thanks everyone, my DH certainly appreciated the reassurance. So for the rest of the story. After the mine tour and dinner with the folks, we enjoyed local band Slow Lorus. I am certainly bias here, since my friend Chris is in the band. He is quiet the singer/songwriter extraordinaire. Not to mention they played at Sir Ben's, one of my favorite pubs to see music. Chris played all my old favs. Also that evening there was a thunderstorm, so the whole performance was set to a lightening back drop. After that, everything rolled normally. Had breakfast with the folks, read my book etc...

We headed out at about 1:00 on Sunday afternoon, thinking we would have a leisurely ride home. I mean what can be worse than rain. Thinking our trip was all peaches and cream, we stopped for a couple of hours at Jay Cooke State Park. I just love Jay Cooke, it is so beautiful. If you have never been there, I highly recommend it.

We relaxed in the shade and then decided to get on the rode. Well it didn't take long until I found out what was worse than rain. Straight line winds. That's right, you heard me! Heading west we had a fierce cross-wind. I thought, "this should get better as soon as I start heading south, right?" rong, I really think the strong head wind was just as bad. Needless to say, my inexperienced nerves were shot. I fact, I made Kevin stop at a restaurant for a little while to unwind and wait for the wind to die. All in all our trip took close to seven hours. What a day. Well, I should get to work on my final painting project. Knitting epiphany to come later this week.

Sounds like you had a nice weekend. Well, except for the winds. I have a hard time riding in strong winds.
I love the giant tire photos!
A song just flashed through my head (Gillian Welch or Allison Kraus, can't remember) - something about "oh the wind and the rain." Sounds like that sums up your riding this weekend! Good thing you had fun and lovely bits in between.
I love Sir Ben's! I'm with you on the wind. That's about the worst thing on a motorcycle.
Awesome rapids there! I've never been to Jay Cooke.
Man, it hasn't rained all summer and it storms when you hit the road!
