In like a Lamb, out like a Lion

It a winter wonder land in Minneapolis. I guess we all had to expect this. It was just way too nice at the beginning of March. In fact over the weekend our household enjoyed a fire in the back yard and a long bicycle ride to Minnehaha Falls. It was a delight, but we all knew it could not last forever.

Today we are stuck indoors with 8-10" of snow, what a mess. I can not even believe I made it to work today. That is one thing I certainly dislike about working at the University, it never closes for the snow. In fact, I think the U has only closed once in the last ten years, and that was on the governor's orders. Driving was so terrible. I just wish employers would want their employees to stay home, you know just to secure their safety. Wishful thinking!

Regardless, I had a super lazy weekend. In fact I spent most of it knitting and reading. I guess I did get a little exercise in. One of my co-workers is letting me try out a PlayStation game that acts as a virtual trainer. So I thought I would give it a go this weekend and it appears that it will work out. There are no gyms in our neighborhood, and I really hate driving across town after work.

Come to think of it we did have some drama this weekend. Unfortunately and I guess fortunately, our house is positioned in range of seven bars. This is nice when you want to go to happy hour, but come the weekend, the drunks are out in full force.

At about 1:30 in the morning, while enjoying our backyard fire, we heard screams from a woman to call the police. We quickly ran to her aid only to be accosted by her equally drunk husband. To make a long story short, by the time the Minneapolis police showed up the feuding couple had calmed down and the police sent them on their merry way. I really felt mixed about the police’s decision, but I did not feel like arguing with the police.

I just get so peeved off by the bar goers. I mean we live in a residential neighborhood - families live here - I just can't understand why people can't respect the neighborhood. I just want to scream, “Do you want me to come to your house and have a fight in your yard, or at the very least throw my garbage in it.”

Oh and one last rant about my neighborhood, the bar crawls. I just can't stand them, what a great idea it is to take a group of drunken people from a different part of town and release them into ours. I guess I wouldn’t feel guilty about this either, if I had never had to clean puke off a sidewalk. Not to mention how much worse this behavior has become since the smoking ban went into effect. Now all of the drunks are outside.

Wow, this rant turned out way longer than I expected. So all drama aside, I made some serious progress on the shawl from Elann. It is looking good, I just can't believe I struggled so much with the yarn over.

To think last week I was checking out how many tulips I had coming up already. This snow would have been great back in January!

Drunks can be frustrating. We used to live in an area like that. Drove me nuts too! We actually had a guy get confused and try to walk into our apartment once. Ick.
